    believe it or not but when i first started wet shaving i considered buying a brush just to spread the canned goo (barbasol) on my face. I thought it inefficient and messy to use my hand. Fortunately my son talked me out of it .

    actually I remember as a kid, my dad had a brush, but as far as I remember he used canned goo (or a similar gel that came in a tube).

    I did this to use up a can of Barbisol that I had purchased before I started wet shaving. With the addition of water and a brush the performance of the Barbisol was actually quite good IME.

    Yikes! I do have to admit that I once tried stuff in a can that heated up when it came out.
