I use the suribachi Bowl every day, except when on vacation.
Mine is a little bigger than the ones in Tom's batch.
It's virtually a lathering machine, and has become a valuable part of my daily shaving routine.
I've never noticed any wear or anything negative happening with any of my brushes.
I have about 15 brushes that I rotate through all of which have synthetic tuxedo knots.

Thanked: 292The photo of the bowl listed in the original post does appear to have at quite aggressive grinding element at the base. Thus, I would be a little concerned about brush wear if using it every day. I use the mortar bowl from a ceramic mortar and pestle set. The interior is rough but not super aggressive. It whips up a lather quite quickly. The Amazon link in another shows some bowls that look like they would make wonderful lather bowls. If the bowl I currently use did not work so well, I might be tempted to get one of them.
