Default Help Identify a Leather Razor Sheath

I received this leather razor sheath with a vintage M. J. Higgins razor. It appears to be machine sewn and stamped 'U.S.' on one side.

Curious if the 'U.S.' indicates it is military related? If so what time pediod.

Thanks for any help you can give.

To me it looks hand sewn, I don't know.

It very well may be. I can't tell the difference as it is so neat and uniform.

Higgins is Sheffield. The country of origin of a razor does not always relate to the case. They may have been put together at any time in the past.

Intersting it is not U.S to me it is U_S

    What does the underscore mean?

Anything I look up leads to computer language, not very relative here I think.

    Does it mean Ulysses Smith?

True that. And it does look like a military stamp. Looks that it could be WWII, by the wear. Maybe Korean conflict.

Never checked into what options you'd have for issued razors. Dad was in Korea, with DE. Maybe a personal razor brought with them.

Clauss razors had military stamped tangs, I've seen. Don't know who else from the States did though.

You are correct. Your eyes are better than mine. I had to use the magnifying glass under a bright light to make it out.
    Thanks

bouschie, I hope that you don't think this is to far off topic but this has been an interesting read for me.

Sort of fun looking into history and what things mean.
