Display case / rack
I've been restoring straight razors for a year (thanks to this site) and I now have 7 razors in my collection and I only see that number growing. Currently I'm keeping them in a plastic cup in my medicine cabinet. I'd like to have some kind of cool case to store and display my razors and I'd like to build it myself.
I was wondering if anyone has already done this and if so would they mind sharing designs ideas that are functional and attractive.
Thanks.

If I was in the US I would go for one of these: 7-Pen Display Case - Rockler Woodworking Tools
They supposedly work well for straight razors and I only wish the shipping wasn't so prohibitive or I'd have one sent over here to the UK.

Thanked: 6I have the same case - I bought it on amazon for about 15$...shipping was free at the time...
I have large razors and they dont fit well with the set molding...so I pulled it out and lined the bottom with black felt that had a sticky side...
looks great...

Thanked: 1072I made this one myself recently http://straightrazorpalace.com/razor...play-case.html and I'm no carpenter. My advice would be to be make one that holds a good few razors, mine holds 14 and just tonight I was thinking I might have to make another one. You know how the RAD is.
Cheers

Here is one I made/designed. It is designed after the old west gun rack. Go to the Forums under Show and Tell to page 4 and check out 'Old West Style Str8 Razor Rack'. It is a simple design that can be modified to fit individual needs; change top and bottom pieces for number of razors you want, change top piece and cut slots instead of using holes. The bar across front is for a lock to keep kids from accessing razors. There is a problem I'm in the process of trying to solve involving the different razor lengths. Should work fine with slotted top piece.

Thanked: 12I built a similar display case last week. I just got the rest of the hooks last night (Homeco only stocks 2 packs and I needed 7). I made it to hold 14 razors as well, but the whole time I made it I realized it was only the first one
I also made a smaller case that holds 7 razors. It is made from a "cigar box" I found at Michael's (a craft store chain). It doesn't show off the razors like the wall mounted display case, but it does hold them securely. My plan is to use it for holding overflow from the display case and for traveling. Do I need to take 7 razors when I travel? No, but why not?
I haven't taken any pics yet. I just put in the last hooks for the wall mounted display case last night. I still need to finish the wood on the small case (it came raw). I'll try to take some tonight and post about both projects.
