    Default Clippers

I noticed that there was just another thread about clippers but I have a different question...

I am looking to buy a set of professional grade of hair clippers and was curious if anyone had suggestions as to the best ones for around $100 or less. A little more is no big deal but no $10,000 platinum plated super clippers. I have very thick hair that usually bogs down most clippers.

An Oster 76 is probably the most durable on the market today. I use one about 20 times a day and have for many years. They are $119.00 with free shipping at Williamsport Barber Supply.

There is also an Oster 111 Turbo. It is larger and heavier than the 76 but I dont find it to be anymore powerful. For my money I would stick with a 76.

Probably the wahl professionals would do the job. However on eboy you can find some NOS old fashioned manual clippers like they used in the old days. I have a pair of Dorko's and they are professional grade and I got them for a song.

Anything around a hundred bucks will be more than enough. The Osters mentioned above were the ones I used as a dog groomer, the can do shavedowns on matted dogs 50 hours a week for years on end. Pretty much total overkill for one guy who want to cut his own hair, most barbers don't bother with that level of power, though all animal groomers require it.

Any of the clippers from Whal, Andis, or Oster on that site will work fine for your application.

Conair makes some nice high quality barbering tools and they tend to do so at a lower price than the competition. They also make some junk so.....

An Oster 76 is "overkill" and "most barbers" don't use them ?....Interesting.

Yeah I recently had the same problem and settled on the Classic 76. They require semi-regular maintenance that cheaper clippers don't really need and they seem like a sturdy piece of machinery in my opinion. They come with two metal blades and either you buy the universal set of plastic blades or spend about $30 for each additional metal blade(amazon). I use #2 and they cut very well with no pulling whatsoever and mow through my thick hair no prob. I'd recommend them, but to each his own.
