    Robert,

All the internet websites claim that their str8 razors are "shave ready" even if they have only been factory sharpened. IMHO, though, factory sharpened is not the same as professionally honed and therefore is not shave ready.

I would send it to Lynn or somebody for a professional honing before using it on my face.

Another option would be to check the SRP "Classifieds" for an SRP member in your area who offers a honing service. That should do the trick.

    Default Try HHT first

I bought a Boker King cutter from the knife center.
Half the blade would pass the HHT. Used it on a pasted strop for 8 passes then stroped it up and tried the HHT.
    Passed with flying colors.
Shave tested, this razor just wiped the hair off.
If I use a very slight sliceing motion to my strokes it does not even make any noise when shaving.
So test it first you might get lucky.

I don't see anywhere on my site that I make such a claim, however I do maintain that the razors I sell are shave ready or nearly shave ready depending on the beard they're going to shave. I've sold many razors that have gone to men who have only needed to strop them before use (such as myself) and I have sold razors to men who have decided they wanted to pass their razor over to my friendly neighbourhood sharpening fella.... I personally think it is pure myth that every razor needs to be sent to a honemeister before shaving with it. Not each and every one of us has the exact same preference for blade characteristics, or tools in general... if we did, I'm pretty sure Gi**ette would have figured it out by now and would have us all shaving with the exact same disposable razor complete with lubricated strips, vibrating handles and promises of better performance in sports and more luck with the ladies.

Anyway, I only chose to address your comment because it contained a statement that my site had made a claim that it does not, and I feel that I need to point that out.

    Scott,

Thank your response to my earlier post to Robert. It was never my intention to put words in your mouth or your website that are not there. I misspoke or to put it more accurately, miswrote. For that I apologize.

    Richard,
I got the box today and I love it. Here are my thoughts on it.

Regarding fit: I wish the dividers were a couple of mm wider to accommodate some thicker scale blades. Most of the blades I have do fit fine, except one...even this one fits OK, not perfect. You can still close the lid comfortably.

As far as finish: it lives up to the hype. It is a beautiful box.

As the years go by and I go on acquiring more str8 , I do see myself upgrading the box to the 28-blade holder. For now, I am happy.

Glad you found a home for your collection of str8 razors.

    Cheers!

    Hi Scott,
I feel bad for having passed the opportunity of buying the box from you, but for the price that KnifeCenter had it advertised for, I had no choice...It was a no brainer. I have been looking at your site to see if one of the Canadien TI's would be something I can add to the collection . I have had an eye on a couple of them...a good lot of them seem to be out of stock though. Any estimated time for restocking or those were the last of the Mohikans? They do look nice...a bit pricey, but very beautiful indeed.

    Best,
    -Robert

Why feel bad? There's no reason to feel to feel bad.

I listened to a voice mail that was left to inform me that my order started its journey to me from France today. So, I can happily say that some of my Out of Stocks will be back in stock soon.

Great...I may actually be in the market for 1 or 2 of your TIs. They do look gorgeous...I am not even Canadien.

Not a display case but very effective for storing a lot of razors safely. Keep an eye out on ebay and you may be able to get one for around a hundred bucks as I did.
Check this out at Harbor Freight. 80 bucks!
