Work for a scuttle?
Evening all,
While at the Ren Fair I was looking for a bowl. Since there are always several pottery vendors I figured there shouldn't be a problem.
Was in on and I saw this mixing bowl -
Looked over and saw this bowl -
Looked back & -
What do you think?

Thanked: 66I use the black SRD and all I can suggest is it's not bad for lather but keeping it warm would be a bit more difficult..if the tip were closed to be as a water channel to have hot water flow to the underside of the bowl would improve it..but eitherway VERY creative and give it the "warm lather test" to try!

Thanked: 14Both are very nice looking. Hope they work well. I was also at a fair today and asked 2 potters about scuttles and I had to explain what they were. Both were willing to try making one, but without the knowledge and skill level in making them, don't think I'll let them experiment with me.
Let us know how they work for you.

Used it for the first time last night. Retained heat well. I filled a sink with hot water and soaked the bowls in it while in the shower. I will try to use hotter water next time but the bowl kept the brush warm and in effect the lather.
The bowl is about 4.5" across and about 2" deep. I can flatten the brush into the bttom easily to keep it warm.
The main diadvantage is that since it is two seperate bowls it rattles when I am making lather.
After checking other threads I will try the rubber feet to lift it off the counter top.
