I think some dark leather would look nice. Felt is probably another good choice.

Kinda depends on what goal you've set out for yourself. If you're just trying to fabricate something along the lines of the TI travel box, then felt or velvet should be sufficient. If you're looking for something with a bit more versatility, then consider a dop bag.

The original makers name or part of it anyway. You can get them on Amazon now from Buxton.

DOPP Traditional Leather Kit by Buxton - Large Capacity - Travel Kits, Travel Bags

I have two on order for my two sons. we'll see the quality.

This would seem to be a personal choice. I've always preferred felt or velvet myself.

I reworked an antique jewelry box for my wife one time. The easiest way to line it was to cut out thin card board to fit the bottom first. Then I cut out the sides. Used royal blue felt to cover the pieces and slid them in place. Looked great!

I am going to do a lined shave box but have not decided if I will use card board painted with polyurathane or thin wood. I want to make dividers for the razors also.

Found a nice box at hobby lobby that looks like an old trunk for $4. Just stained it twice with oak stain.

Hobby lobby also had a small rectangular box that will hold 2 razors. Just stained it for the second coat last night. Box was $1.27.
