Thanked: 3custom made shaving scuttle
Hey guy's, I have a local pottery maker near where i live. I called him today to find out if he would make a custom scuttle for me. He told me, he can make one for me. I have bought items from him before, and he does excellent work. I am going to take a trip out to see him soon. I have been looking at a lot of them on the web getting ideas of what I would like. If you have any ideas based on what you have used or would like to see in one, I would like your input. When I get it made, I will post pics and let you know how well it works out for me.

custom scuttle
Happy Birthday to me. This was a gift from my sister in-law custom made for me. It's oversized, with a lip on the inside so the foam won't fall out.
I absolutely love it! I told her she should make them for other people too. I would like to get some feedback for her, please let me know if you like it. This mug is 5 inches in across and 2.5 inches deep.

That is lovely, and looks like it has a lot of room to work in. It however is not a scuttle, but more of a shaving mug. Regardless, your very lucky to have it

Thanked: 240As stated above that's not a scuttle but it does look like a heck of a shaving mug, the lip is a nice touch.

Your custom shaving mug looks real nice. I am certain that there are wet shavers out there who would be willing to invest in one if the price is reasonable.

Let's take all buying or selling either by the classifieds or by PM.

Thanked: 14I use a scuttle from a potter I found on e bay that has made quite a few. He made the color I wanted and his design was one that I agreed with. While it's not quite as refined as Dirty Bird Pottery's units, it keeps the water hot, my lather warm for all 3 passes, holds lots of lather, because of the lines produced in the bottom it also helps create lather faster, and all for a price of $20.
The fact that it holds a lot of HOT water is a major plus!
If you have one custom made, it would be very helpful if the person has made one before. Remember he is trying something new on your dollar! These things are pretty complicated to make if you've never made one before.
