Any TOY straights for kids this year?
Last year a member was offering some wooden toys straights for the kids. My two oldest wanted them and I've been trying to get a couple ever since. However, I haven't been able to reach this member that was offering.
Does anyone else do this or know where one might be able to get them?http://ashevillewetshavers.weebly.com/ April 26-27th come to one of the greatest meet ups of wet shavers!

Thanked: 983Would you be able to make some for your own kids? I couldn't imagine it would be difficult to make, it would mostly be a time and tools factor. If you have the tools could you take the time to make a couple. I never saw what the other ones looked like either. Were they fancy?

I'm not that handy with many tools, nor do I have the materials or tools to make them.

Thanked: 983Bugger! Oh well, it was just a thought. Hopefully someone else will be of more use to you than me then.

A good thought. I need to get my garage together to be able to do some small projects such as this.

You can go to Ebay and for $5 buy some razor that begins with Z. I don't think you can sharpen them so they're probably child safe.

Thanked: 983You know that might not be a half bad idea. Get a cheap box cutter straight razor lookalike and bread knife it. Round off any pointy areas and the boys have a practice razor. So long as there are no legal issues involved and the 'razors' aren't carried to the local play ground. I reckon that is a possible solution. Geez I wish I had a son instead of three daughters...

Thanked: 1072I was going to make one using grey PVC 3mm thick for the blade and an old set of scales, but wifey thought it might be a bad idea to encourage a 3 year old wild boy to play with razors even when theyre plastic. Probably a good point...

Shavette
my shavette (from ebay) cost me £2.99 and looks alot like a straight, its a london Katana, that'd be a great gift as without the blade fitted its blunt, once they get to start shaving simply add the blades and they have something thye can use which they have handeled enough to be more comfortable with, mine has black plastic scales and a black plastic tang.

LOL, Bob
Rick,
This has actually been discussed before, but more in the context of a tool to aid in learning straight razor shaving:

See page 2 of the thread for my response.
I don't know if you'd want to give a young kid what I gave my 12 (almost 13 yo) son. Although it's no longer sharp enough for shaving, a firm slicing motion could possibly draw blood.
