Default Do Shaving Scuttles Really Work?

Do shaving scuttles--the newer ceramic ones--really keep your lather warm? Are they worth it? Just asking as this cold Winter has had my lather cooling off almost immediately. I know I could concoct some sort of double boiler system--a smaller bowl within a larger bowl, but that seems like so much work.

    In a word, Yes

You could also just keep the lather bowl in the sink full of hot water but the Scuttles make it all easier too.

My Redneck Scuttle (self-watering planter from WalMart) works great. Microwave a cup of water for one minute, 30 seconds and you're good to go.

Yes they do work, but it is really a matter of finding the sweet spot of having warm lather that does not disintegrate during the shave. That seems to be the challenge, I have used alot of scuttle and just settled for heating my bowl up and then making lather , it last a little while but then is dissipates. But then again I know many a person that the scuttles work for them, so to each his own

I have owned a Moss scuttle for the past year and a half or so and love it! I have the small sized scuttle so basically just rest my brush in it between passes. Sine I face lather, this works perfectly for me. Warm lather? Oh Yea!

Yes they do. I have a Georgetown Pottery G5 and absolutely love it! Even if I don't use it as a scuttle but rather just a lathering bowl it works great.
