Several years ago a dear friend sent me a well used, now out of service, Cuban cigar press. This
one was for the Lancero vitola. I thought why not combine my two very favorite pastimes, Habana cigars and straight razors. So half of the cigar press is back in service.

Yes! You provided the great inspiration, along with another members suggestion of the Windsor Designs 8 drawer machinist chest, which is superb for razor storage and for $75.00 you can't go wrong.

I've been using a wood, brass and glass display case lined with felt, sitting on top of a table. Its lid is hinged and opens right back without any resistance, so I decided to craft something better to sit it on. I didn't want to change the display case in any way but I did want the lid to be able to open safely...

So I made this wooden side table with draws, beading around where the case sits, and a padded leather back for the lid to open back onto. Now it can't slam backwards. Very happy with the result.
