    Default Need a scuttle recommendation..

So I like my georgetown scuttle, but the bowl is kind of small and I'm finding that it doesn't make as good a lather as I can get from plain old face lathering... so I want to find something better...

One thing that bothers me is the bowl is kind of small, so I was wondering if anyone has recommendations for a GOOD scuttle...

    THanks in advance!

For the money, you can't beat a Robert Becker scuttle.

    Hello:
Currently I use two different scuttles: Ansgar Schwarweisskeramik and Moss. The Ansgar scuttle is an absolute delight for making lather. The Moss is not meant for making lather; rather, it is for keeping the brush warm. Your other choices are Dirty Bird, Straight Razor Designs, and Becker. I fancy Schwarzweisskeramik, with Dirty Bird close by — both are designed for making lather in the bowl.

Mcgyver, I have the GTP scuttle you have and found it a bit small but serviceable. I recently got the DB 1.5 and its like night and day. The think retains heat like nobodys business and holds a s#!t load of lather. I got mine with the extra ridges in the bowl and def. think that helps with the later building. Julie at Dirty Bird Pottery is a wonlderful woman to work with to boot. Hope this helps!

The only one I've ever owned is the moss, and like Obie said, it is small by design to keep the lather warm. It does a very good job of that IME. I lather in a separate bowl that was designed for that purpose. One of those that SRD sells where the lip of the bowl folds over a bit so lather won't go over the top. I love my Moss but if you are in the USA shipping from BC is high and it isn't really any good for lathering..... AFAIC.
