    Default Mexico?

I have family going to mexico shortly and they were wondering if there was anything specific I would like them to bring back for me.

QUESTION: Are there any mexican specific shaving supplies worth bringing back? Anything to look for that may be cheaper than here in Canada?

Mexico is a good place to buy high-quality, inexpensive leather goods -- belts, handbags, etc. Labour is cheap, and there are lots of good craftsmen.

I've been trolling this forum for a year and a half, and haven't heard anything about "made-in-Mexico" shaving stuff.

I've been there twice and will be there again in a month (b-day present from my wife ), and I have yet to find any traditional wetshaving products other than the usual canned goo and disposable/cartridge blades. I know in the States Wal Mart sells more shaving products than we get in Canada (VDH, Clubman, DE blades etc), so I thought they would be similar in Mexico. I was wrong. The only difference is that the their Wal Marts sell booze, at quite reasonable prices I might add

BTW Moorefield, where in Mexico are you going?

Get good tequila and use it as pre-, during-, and post- shave. Of course, the correct application is internally

Yes, cheap however the locally processed leather is very inferior. The top manufacturers in Mexico buy the leather tanned in the U.S and of course the prices reflect that.

I doubt it, and besides, the airlines are getting ridiculous with this kind of thing anyway. My Sister was going to come visit me from across the country once, and she bought me a tub of shaving cream for a kind gift. The airport security confiscated it, and would not return it. They probably took it home and enjoyed a few good shaves with it!

Does anyone tan leather in the US in industrial quantities anymore? I've an acquaintance that works with leather and imports it from Turkey and Italy. While on a wild search for a local tannery (the crazy make your own strop phase we all go through) I only found small shops around here, mostly doing buckskins.
