A sponge is a perfect place for bacteria to grow. The used soap loaded with skin tissue and whiskers is the perfect food for them.
You wipe the blade and load it with bacteria and scrape your face with it... If you cut yourself those bacteria can enter the bloodstream.
I have this same wiping bowl but my preferred method is simply rinsing the blade in hot water.

Thanked: 3226I clean my sponge after every shaving session and air dry it. I really think some stuff gets overblown but whatever floats your boat.

I also use a sponge, and for the bacteria hysteria it's really not a big deal as I always let the sponge soak in hot water while I shower before shaving. My tapwater holds ~160F which is enough to kill most bacterias, and the ones that by some reason still lives I would probably come in contact with anyhow.....and I might get hit by a car when crossing the road.
I like the drip bowl thing tough, might just order one to try it outNeed help or tutoring? Check out the .

I had to grab one of these for the modest price that they are. I'll see how it works next week. Thanks for the information!

Thanked: 14I too use a sponge - use hot water to clean and soak it - periodically put it into the dishwasher a run it through a cycle with the dishes - kills everything.
