Thanked: 116Hart Steel Deerskin Sheath
Does anyone use their deerskin sheath provided by Hart? Kind of curious to see if anyone stores their razors in the super soft leather. I got a hart kamisori and 6/8 spike in the mail today and would love to hear back!

I don't. I have one Hart and more than a few TI that came with leather sheaths. I don't keep guns in leather holsters, knives in sheaths for fear of moisture causing corrosion. I suppose it may have something to do with the tanning process ..... making the sheaths for razors 'safe' but I ain't taking any chances.

I have been. But so far I haven't found a good solution for storing my razors. A sheath or box is handy in the absence of something better.

I use mine after the razor has been dried for 24 hours and have had no problems seem to work ok for me .

I put mine into a leather pouch after well dried and coated with ballistol. I don't have a problem here in Florida's high humidity. Also I store them on so that the shaving edge points down thereby allowing the ballistol to cover the edge.

Every time I come across a vintage leather case that has been holding vintage razors, I have found corrosion somewhere. Often, it's just on the pins, which makes sense, since they are directly in contact with the leather.
Obviously I don't know what the leathers are, exactly, and I don't know what the rest of the storage conditions have been, but it's been enough to make me stay away from leather for prolonged storage.

Thanked: 116Thanks for the input guys, these leather sheaths are so supple and feel amazing! I wish I had underwear made out of the stuff... Mental image anyone?
I've got two kamisoris now and no real solution to storing them... maybe I need to commission a box or try to get one off ebay so that nothing contacts the edge.

leather tanning uses some pretty harsh chemicals depending on the process so unless you know what was used I would keep leather away from any blades.

I use it if I am traveling with it just to keep the blade from swinging. Other than that it stays in a razor stand.
Shaving with facial hair is like a golfcourse. It's a challenge of rough and fairways. You are the skilled greenskeeper of your face?
