Thread: Robert Becker scuttle Birthday gift

Today I walked in from work and my wife gave me my birthday present early.

It's a Robert Becker large scuttle in hurricane finish. I couldn't wait to use it. So I went and preheated it while I took my shower. Surprisingly after a 20 minute shower it was still quite hot to touch. I changed out the water and whipped up a lather. I put the lid on while I stropped, then went and lathered up. All I can say is wow! The lather felt like I remember from my childhood barbershop when he would shave the back of my neck. Nice and hot!!! I wanted to see how it would keep the lather warm for 3 passes and it was still hot at the end of 3 passes.

The scuttle is on the large size with a 5 inch lather bowl and being around 7-8 inches outside diameter. This being my first scuttle I have nothing to compare it to, but I would definitely recommend one. His craftsmanship is really good too.

Very cool. I've been toying with picking up a scuttle. Maybe I'll ask for one at my next b-day.
