You're right - it's a tank. Yes, air tight.
I see something that might be a signature but it's not clear.

I have a double Frederick Reynolds but not in near as good condition as yours. Its brittle, the top is loose, has been glued in several places but still has some leaks. It still comes in handy when going away for a few days and I want to take a couple straights with me.

No...from what I understand they are Sheffield made...razors are not bad either
