Thanked: 1160That's because the English are so confusing(chuckle) Ed is gonna be after me now. Traditional Supper as stated earlier in this thread is a bit of a mystery here in the US. Traditional in the sense might be thought of as meat and potatoes for us, with nothing specific maybe. We seem to be more known for Hamburgers and apple pipe historically and Funny enough Pizza seems to be our No. 1 gig anymore. Geeze, we probably got as many Pizza joints as we do Starbucks nowadays. We're such a mutt of a country . I guess Thanksgiving is really our most traditional thing foodwise anymore ?

Thanked: 2027Traditional to me means the food has a family meaning. In late November I will make Shaslik,a lamb dish that my uke family made once a year since the 1800s.I will use the skewers (shipara) that my great grandfather hand forged long before they left Russia in 1917.
We will also make lapsha.
Around Xmas we will make Borsct and hundreds of Pelmeni.
Traditional suppers to me evoke intense memorys, thats what they should do

Ok breakfast is in the morning first up, elevenses or morning tea happens at around eleven o'clock, lunch or luncheon is somewhere around mid-day, afternoon tea is mid afternoon, dinner or tea happens early evening, but I believe supper is a meal later in the evening. Hope that's clear.
Oh and steph I have no idea why you point at me when you talk about English being confusing, I may be confusing, and I suppose I am English....Last edited by edhewitt; 10-01-2013 at 02:49 AM.

Woah nelly, I think you need the marmite on toast, a cup of tea and a pipe steph, I just noticed that you noted my name, whether we talk about the weather or which witch should make the sandwich, just remember that two of anything may be too much to choose from. Sorry going now

Whoa back there, now hold on Nelly! What you got against Witches?! And why do we always have to make the bloody sandwiches anyway?! Can't somebody else do it for a change?!
On a more serious note and while we are off topic, I sent you some Astra's in the mail today Ed. You should see them in a day or three.
