    Default The supper club

We have a breakfast thread and a dinner one but what about supper?
I'll start, tonight I'm having crackers with red peper hummus, green pepper salami, double smoked cheddar and cranberry cheddar (tis the season and all). All washed down with a bottle of Sauvignon blanc

    Nice. Which Sauvignon blanc?
Hint: We do have a wine thread...

I believe it was a Jacobs creek, nothing fancy.
I do like my wine and I'm a qualified vintner, though I don't do it for a living anymore.
That said I have very simple tastes in my wine and whilst used to only drink red, it is now mostly white cause that's what the wife is drinking.
I will have to pay the wine thread a visit

Well, a good wine doesn't have to be fancy (i.e. expensive).

To quote myself in an old thread:

Cheap wine leaves more money for razors.

A lot of the more expensive wines are in my not so humble opinion hyped by wine writers that have gotten paid vacations to "Chateau le Carp"...

On the other hand one of the best wines I've ever tasted was a 1993 Chateau Ste. Michelle Cabernet Sauvignon. I wish I had bought more of that one...

That's exactly how I feel mate, if you like it, drink it and if it's cheap, lucky you.
I hate the snobbery that can accompany wine and have experienced all to often at tasting events. The same sort of people who still won't drink "new world" wine and would die if you offered them wine from a screw top bottle! Lol

The fun thing is, if you gave them the wine during a blind test, a lot of them wouldn't tell the difference.

I've done that during private parties.

And that's exactly what happened during those tasting sessions
