    Default Rum of the Day

    Hey guys,

I have begun to enjoy a good scotch (more so than any other whiskey) every once in a while, but my favorite type of liquor is a good relaxing glass of Rum. And when looking I cannot see any thread or post that mentions a rum of the day. So I thought unless there is one, here we go.

So for any rum drinkers out there what is your favorite rum or rum of the day? I like that stuff that you like to pour in a glass straight or on the rocks and sit and enjoy.

As of right now I enjoy Captain Morgan's Black Spiced Rum. Its aged in double charred oak barrels giving it a mellow smooth flavor of sweet caramel and vanilla, wrapped in sweet spices, all very sweet to the nose. I love to every once in a while add a jigger to 16oz Coke, adding a body of caramel and sweetness to the Coke, bringing home also the rum base to the glass of Coke.

I'm soon hoping to try Kraken Black Spiced Rum soon.

So if you like rum, what's yours?

Matusalem, the older the better, is my favorite. I'm not a big fan of spiced rums after being exposed to a wide variety of rums around the Caribbean Rim. It's difficult to find a really bad one derived from molasses or sugar cane like cachacas. Unless it's only rum flavored alcohol from another source but those aren't rhums.

I am not really into rum but I did ha e some really good Guiana rum about 2 years ago. I have vowed that I will get my own bottle someday. Don't know which brand it was. My friend just told me it was what his family drank on a regular basis.

Capt. Morgans is my go to rum, but I did receive a birthday present of Pyrat aged rum. It is very drinkable....

Wray and Nephew is very good stuff. That they predate Appleton and the like is interesting.

    I like Pyrat too.

I like Goslings. Especially when making a Dark and Stormy with Bundaberg ginger beer or home made ginger beer.
