Default Team USA takes silver in Bocus d'Or

I'm not sure if any of you have been following this story. It may be news to some, old news to others. But it was very exciting to me to see this. I was at the Bocuse d'Or/Coupe du Monde in 1999. Its really interesting to see in person. Up to now, the US had never come this close to gold and it was their first time to the podium. Here is part of what got them there.

And the US took third in the Coupe du Monde. Not a bad year.

Congratulations are indeed in order. The Bocuse d'Or I follow each year with interest, from afar I might add, but the Coupe du Monde has been slipping under my radar. Thanks for the reminder, I certainly will read up on it. It surely is inspiring to see such creativity.

The World Cup of Pastry is almost more fun to watch since visually there is more to see. The ice, chocolate, and sugar sculptures are all very large and displayed close enough for the crowd to get a good look at them. You don't get to look as closely at the food at the Bocuse d'Or. Its all quite an event for the city.
