Delmonico steak cooked Med rare, then slice thin strips, swiss or provolone (aged stinky foot) baby bellas saultee until soft. Nice crusty bread or roll. Pile ingredients high then under the broiler for a few serve with au jus and horseradish sauce.

OK, well if Ice Cream don't make it, I like Roast Pork with Broccoli Rabe and sharp provolone.The provolone has to be very sharp or I also like use a very sharp Romano.
Does the bread have to have "sharp" ends also :-)

It may seem strange because it's so simple, but I'm partial to cucumber and cheese, preferably on rye or whole wheat bread.
i just had a nice tomato sandwich on heavy grain wheat.. lightly toasted with a thin coat of veganaise.. multiple slices of heirloom tomato and a sprinkling of mediterranean sea salt.. open faced.. with a few kalamata olives on the side..

A good Cuban is hard to beat. My all time favorite is a sandwich I had in Canada right above the Vermont border, can't remember the town or restaurant but it was near Lake Memphramagog. It was a ham and swiss panini with a nice garden salad. Perfect bread, with perfect ham and cheese and butter instead of mayo. Sooooooooooooo good I'm getting hungry thinking about it.
Just thinking about this is making me hungry (which is bad news because I need to go to bed soon), but:
One slice, freshly baked Italian bread,
pile it high with thinly sliced Genoa salami,
add a couple slices of Provolone cheese,
*every once in a great while, some hot giardiniera*
Second slice of bread dipped in a mixture of olive oil, salt, pepper, and a little oregano.
Mmmmm. I really wish my fridge wasn't sans salami right now!
A dressed fried shrimp po-boy can't be beat.
well my favorite depends on weather I'm staying in or going out.
at home I like a BLT on wheat toast or a grilled cheese. when I go out on the other hand I like either a philly cheese steak or hot roast beef. not really sure that counts as a sandwich though, even though its usualy listed on the menu as one.
as a side note...doesn't anyone eat bologna anymore?
Don't tell anyone, but yes I will have a Blongna samich once and a while with M Whip and crunched up tater chips...

I started the day with fried eggs, bacon and tomatoes on open face sandwiches. With a few mugs of coffee.
It's good with a hot breakfast when it's winter outside.
My alltime favourite is a chibatta with fresh buffallo mozarella, basilika leaves and sliced tomato (you could have prochioutto also, but I prefer the cleaner taste without). Simple and very delish :)
When I'm totally throwing healthy eating by the wayside, my favorite sandwich is peanut butter and bacon on toast.
Tangy sourdough whole wheat (2 loaves fermenting in the fridge now), having gotten the 4 loaves of wheat/rye blend out of the oven last night at 10.
Mayo
1/4 lb thin sliced Tenderloin w/ garlic/salt/pepper crust w/ layer of bacon.
Shallot slices, Red bell pepper slices
dabs of cream cheese mixed w/ crumbled blue cheese.
dash of garlic salt, generous fresh ground pepper.
Serve heated w/ cheese melting
I will be going to the commissary at lunch to get them to hand make me and "Italian". It has capicola, Pastrami, salami, pepperoni and ham. Topped with provolone and banana peppers, sub dressing and mustard. $3.99 can't be beat!
My fave is the Muffaletta, as served in NOLA. A round seeded Italian loaf, sliced crosswise. A layer of olive salad, then Genoa salami, ham, mortadella, and provelone. You can warm it to melt the cheese, or not. Good either way.

1. Fry two pieces of bologna and stick a piece of cheese between 'em. Put some mayo on a couple pieces of bread. Put the bologna & cheese on one slice of bread. Add ketchup and the other slice of bread.
2. Bread, mayo, ham, cheese (pepperjack), turkey, mustard, bread.
Serve with whatever kind of chips or fried taters ya have around.
