having just moved to the san francisco peninsula.. i'm eating sourdough like crazy.. i've been enjoying it with avocados and monterey jack.. a light spread of homemade mayonaise and plenty of salt and pepper.
Guys nothing better then as plain ol bacon lettuce and avocado for pure and clean taste.
20 years NYC chef
toast with goat cheese and a little honey and some pine nuts
Fried egg sandwich with cheese(American cause it's gotta be gooey and fatty) and mayo on any kind of bread and sometimes also with fried sausage..........I never claimed it was healthy, just really really good !! :):)
pastrami and chpped liver on rye.
I had a babysiter when I was younger much! Bye the way smoking HOT!!! she made me peanut butter with crushed potatoe chips then grilled it with butter! This was amazing I still love them and by the way she is still HOT! :gwh:
Hey Mark London....now that's my kind of cholesterol mmmmm !!!:)
I had a craving for Pastrami. Last weekend I decided to be lazy and got to Subway for a Pastrami Sub... It was really terrible. Not much meat and the meat that was there was tough and stringy...
Well this weekend I made up for it. I went to Giamela's a local favorite. Really Tasty!

Wow that looks tasty.
What is all that bread and ???
Get a feeling of hunger
Dark rye bread. A thick slice of limburger cheese, liverwurst and a slab of red onion. Grey poupon mustard!
It has pastrami, provolone cheese, mustard, tomatoes, pickles, and onions, a splash of red wine vinegar, a shake or seasoning, and some hot peppers.
That's the Burbank Shop on Magnolia. The Atwater Village shop has some unusual yet tasty pizza.

Petit Pain, salad, some sliced tomatoes, hot piece of chicken and then hot sweet chilli sauce.
And this together with a glass of latte macchiato.
I like a nice hot grilled brie cheese and bacon sandwhich. Simple, easy, cheesy. My cup of tea.
Bologna and American on white.
Man you really hit the nail on the head there, have you made it like a grilled cheese? Spreading oil or butter on one side, frying the bread, adding your ingredients between the fried side of the two pieces of bread then frying the outside. Now THATS a sandwich!
Or have you ever tries adding super thin sliced deli turkey, or bacon instead of sausage ? Or both :D
Maybe it's more of a southern thing but I'm surprised there isn't more talk about a a well smoked (20+hrs) BBQ beef brisket sandwich.... It's hard to ever say no to that
For anyone that lives in dallas, there's a great little place in east plano off 15th called Ye Ole Butcher Shop- definitely check that out if you're a fan of the 'cue
I'm feeling spring fever already. Here's what I'll have this May/June
Fried Soft Shell Blue Crab Sandwich on griddled white bread. Avocado, Arugula, Jalapenos and Mayo. It'll look something like this: Attachment 55514
Johnny, That looks good. :tu
I know this will sound stupid but......I have never had soft shell crab,do you eat the whole kit n kaboodle or do you take out whatever innards are there eyes etc.? I'm ignant on the matter sorry .
Speaking of avocados, do any of y'all make your own Guac?
Haha good to know that you're a believer :)
I was gonna ask if anyone has done any interesting variations on the classic Guac- I've used the leftover heat from a wood fire (after cooking all the meats) to lightly "grill" a avocado cut in half for just a couple of minutes then used it to make guacamole....not bad at all- I recently started adding a pinch of cumin to it- also very good
So how bout this.Guac with some homemade cajun seasoning, thin cut roast or grilled pork with fried thin sliced summer squash n onions on french bread.I just made that up.:)
I have to say the best sandwich has to be roast pork, ham, pickels, provelone and spicy mustard.
A.K.A The Cuban
The closest sandwich among the "real" Norwegian ones is the open face shrip, mayo and a slice of lemon on white bread.
There is a crab combination sandwich with mayo / lemon also.

The picture is borrowed from the Norwegian championship in shrimp sandwich making.
Okay....We need to get some yummy icons on this here sight, but in the mean time DROOOOOOOL!!! Those seafood sandwiches are calling me like harpies to a doomed ship!
Something is really amiss here. I went through every post here, (good thing I did it after lunch) and no one said a Big mac or a quarter pounder or any other fast food offering. Hey what's going on? They are eaten by the billions. If people didn't think they are the best why do they eat so many of them?
Product research people from all the usual suspects want to know. Are you guys just a bunch of throwbacks or something. Next thing you'll be saying is you shave with something like a straight razor.
I am a fan of the big mac myself but is it just me or did they get smaller? I think millions of people eat that stuff for its convienience. I mean Britney Spears sold Millions of records doesn't mean she can sing. Right?
The reason you will not find the big mac here is that it is the sandwich equivalent of the mock3 - fast but not that good.
I'm a simple man...
Brooklyn sesame bagel, toasted dark, touch of mayo, hard (genoa) salami, one slice of provolone, romaine and a slice or two of tomato. A nice pickle on the side. Pair it with a Sam Adams brown ale and it's the perfect weekend lunch in Springtime. I usually enjoy it under the grapevines in the backyard.
Mind you, I don't make it, but the wife does. Oh, so well too!
Life is good! :)
