We had some Choriso as an evening snack, so a Spanish beer was in order

Rallar amber ale from the Ægir brewery last night, very pleasant. Chocolate, toffee and some nutty flavours, while still being relatively light and refreshing. I was a bit skeptical towards Norwegian beer a few years ago, but I'm finding more and more really nice ones.

Over in Scotland for the weekend.
Sampled a few different ales but this was my favourite. I do like an 80 shilling

That's something I'm definitely looking forward to when I get back to Scotland in the summer: a pint of heavy.

It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.

Scotland is one of the few places that has kept a lot of it's old dark ales. Whereas most places just make lots of variations of an IPA.
Where abouts are you visiting this summer?

Not entirely sure yet. I'll definitely be visiting friends in Edinburgh and Fife, but otherwise may do a fair bit of aimless wandering. There are a few places I didn't get around to visiting when I lived there (often coincidentally involving distilleries...) and some old favourites I'm looking forward to seeing again.

Sounds good, some of my best trips around Scotland have been aimless wanders.
I'll probably be over again in the next couple of months before me and my Da hit Glasgow for the commonwealth games in August.

SHMBO called today to tell me those words I so love to hear, "honey, the ceiling in the kitchen is wet." The AC drain pan runneth over. So I spent several hours in a 140 deg attic today. This calls for a real beer. Abita Andygator.

Abita Andygator®, a creature of the swamp, is a unique, high-gravity brew made with pale malt, German lager yeast, and German Perle hops. Unlike other high-gravity brews, Andygator® is fermented to a dry finish with a slightly sweet flavor and subtle fruit aroma. Reaching an alcohol strength of 8% by volume, it is a Helles Doppelbock.

    Default Heady Topper

My neighbor gave me this Heady Topper pounder last night. His buddy brought him a case of it from the Alchemist brewery in Vermont. From what I understand, it's hard to find in most of the country. Gooood stuff if you're a hop addict.

Just mowed the lawn, gave a coat of poly to some razor scales, about to plant some blueberry bushes and decided to have a pint first. One of my favorite Heffes, Granville island Robson street Hefeweizen. First time I ever had this beer was at the old noodle factory in Gas town, BC 4 years ago. Loved it then, and love it now.
