Thread: Beer of the Day !

The White Rabbit Dark Ale was nice. Again, a little 'stouty'; not that there's anything wrong with that. I myself am a little stouty these days. Nice. And if you drink a six pack of these 'round a fire, you can put on some psychedelic pop, such as The Brian Jonestown Massacre (my favorite band) you can go all trippy looking at the label very closely, which features a forest scene such as may be featured in a children's book. Five, no, 16 and a 1/2 points for presentation. 4.9% alcohol. What I call mid strength. Happy with that. Victorian beer (i.e. not cellared in Victorian times; from the state of Victoria, Australia.)
South Australians sort of have a problem with Victorians. They think they play better footy than we do. They play Aus Rules like we do. Queensland does a lot of that funny footy; with the scrums and putting your fingers up the other guy's date and stuff. Have you seen the size of those rugby guys though? They all seem to be mad gamblers on the pokies, and wanting a bit of biffo all the time. At least that's the gist I get from the media. Buts let's face it. Rupert and that other guy, and now that mining woman tell us everything we know; unless we seek it out and experience it ourselves. Like I was saying, the White Rabbit's a fine ale...The next review is fast approaching. Coopers Extra Strong Vintage Ale...Stay tuned...

Coopers Extra Strong Vintage Ale

Well. Firstly I'm a little perturbed by the lack of any sort of apostrophe whatso ever in 'Coopers'. Surely, it should be Coopers'. Being that fact it's a guy and his Son/s. When I tasted it I thought "Well, of course. Coopers is the best brewery in the world". It's South Australian, you see. STILL run by the family. I grew up on Coopers Sparking ale and Coopers Stout. The stout was the cause of me punching the door of my Valiant Charger. We'd been up on the roof of the house drinking, us flat mates. We were about 19. Now we were inside at the kitchen table 'embellishing' the buzz. An argument happened. Just from an idle comment. I pushed a large glass ashtray violently across the table to my twin brother and it crashed into his coffee cup and broke it. He'd been eating pickled cucumbers and drinking coffee. The coffee went everywhere of course. He got up from the table and left. 30 seconds later I got up to see where he went. He was in my bedroom throwing pickled cucumbers at my walls; splattering them everywhere. We tussled. Pushing each other. Then I hit him in the jaw with a right cross. It happens very rarely; but when it does it just does. he fell on his back and I stormed out; into the drive way, on to the road and punched the door of my Valiant Charger.

For some reason that incident made me feel more like a man than anything else ever...

It's 0229, I should be fast asleep, but at least I'm entertained by your beer reviews! They seem to be getting more entertaining as you work your way through the chosen beers. I checked out Mount Torrens on Google Earth, interesting place. I have a distorted idea of what Australia really is, getting information from TV or what I have read. Anyway, I don't think I'll be able to stay awake for the next beer review, but I look forward to seeing it. Take care, Don V

Mr Carl, I've been calling Gridley California home for my entire life. Smack dab in the middle of the Sacramento Valley, about ten miles North of the World's smallest mountain range. Surrounded by farmland, three hours from Reno, two hours from San Francisco. I need to get out and see more of the World, I've seen what's around here, meh, it's OK.

Oh, well, that's not a huge town, is it? That looks quite nice from a satellite...27 degrees C, nice.
Come to Mount Torrens, you can pitch a tent in the backyard. I've got four dogs though; so you need to like dogs. The pub's just down the road, one pool table and three pokie machines. Singing loudly at the bar is allowed.

Well tonight it's some of the best beer in the world (albeit in midstrength version of GOLD) followed by the best bourbon in the world (Or nearly so anyway, JD and WT are better. JB has better choices like Rye and Cherry).

Right I'm off to grab a Tinnie!

Dunno mate. Them tinnies look quite cozy next to the JB. I think they mix quite well together. No fights or nuthin'. Me 'n' youse gettin' on the piss together one day I reckon. 'N' we ain't gonna tell ya missus. We're just gonna let her find out. That should be worth a trip to SA all on it's own .
Do you know how many times I've had to go back and fix the bloody typos in this post?! Geez! Bloody not the beer that's done it. Gotta be that bastard bourbon!
