Well Lynn, this is some of what you missed at the Iowa meet-up last fall. Of course, you did have a good excuse!
Well....not so much a grill, but here we go anyway.
I built this last summer at the cottage. It's 42 square feet, with 3" flagstone on the bottom. Both the initial layer of flag and the top stones are level to within an 1/8" in any direction. The spit supports are inside 1/2" pipe, sunk into the ground to prevent movement, and threaded with caps for the offseason. Here's a pic of the "grill" and then later in the season with "some meat". For an idea of size, that's me sitting IN the pit while a fire is starting.
Aw yeah....three weeks to go until I can put a lamb on it.
That is beautiful!
:rock:I'm ready for dinner....
Great looking stuff.
Oh please don't do this to me!
I'm coming to America just to try your magnificent versions of BBQ. MMMMMMMMMMMMM.
Thanks a lot Maxi! I just threw away my grill because of you! Lol awesome pit wow! Make sure you post a pic of the lamb before you guys devour it!!!
For anyone who has considered it, or is on the fence about it, I will just say that you might want to consider even selling off a few razors or hones to finance a Big Green Egg. They are expensive, but they make fantastic food!
What is a pork steak exactly? My BGE needs to love some of those! Just got my large BGE this spring and I already want a XL.
