Thanked: 3795Well Lynn, this is some of what you missed at the Iowa meet-up last fall. Of course, you did have a good excuse!

Thanked: 993Well....not so much a grill, but here we go anyway.
I built this last summer at the cottage. It's 42 square feet, with 3" flagstone on the bottom. Both the initial layer of flag and the top stones are level to within an 1/8" in any direction. The spit supports are inside 1/2" pipe, sunk into the ground to prevent movement, and threaded with caps for the offseason. Here's a pic of the "grill" and then later in the season with "some meat". For an idea of size, that's me sitting IN the pit while a fire is starting.
Aw yeah....three weeks to go until I can put a lamb on it.

Thanked: 3795For anyone who has considered it, or is on the fence about it, I will just say that you might want to consider even selling off a few razors or hones to finance a Big Green Egg. They are expensive, but they make fantastic food!
