Thanked: 36Thanks a lot, glad you like it! I haven't tried any bunnahabhain except for the one I reviewed but I'm planning to try a few more expressions at some point. I really enjoyed the 12 year old. I still have a couple of unopened bottles to review after I finish the classic malts, so it'll be a while before I get round to it.

Had a look at that darach ur and it looks lovely! I think I'm gonna buy the sprinkbank next month though.
Hibiki looks good -- how is it? If I'm not mistaken, hibiki are blended malts?

Darach 'ur is one of the great surprises in my whisky career.. It's an unpeated bunna, rich fruity and sweet with an oily texture which coates the mouth and lingers on for ages. If you're looking for a typical islay, this is NOT it. But if you're looking for something out of the ordinary, give this one a thought.

The Hibiki definitely surprised me and is very tasty. It is in fact a blend. I mostly enjoy single malt scotch, and my only prior experience with blends was johnny walker (gross). The Hibiki is definitely much more complex and leave a great lingering taste that lasts for hours after the dram. I't seems to be going faster than I would like so I hope I can find another bottle once this one is finished. I'm hoping to find one at duty free on my next trip to Mexico.

Don't let that one experience keep you from trying other blends.. I'll go as far as to say that a more mature blend, Ballantines 17 and up for example, Johnny Walker blue label, are smoother complexer dare I say BETTER than most single malts produced today.. My all time favourite whisky is in fact Ballentines 30y. So don't give up on blends just yet, just broaden your horizon in that category.
