Whisky reviews. A dram at work.......Whoa! :D
I'm quite a fan of glenfarclas actually. I've not tried the 15 year old but the 105 is excellent for its price. It's very rich with quite deep flavours. - think Christmas cake. I might get another bottle soon.
Glenfarclas 12 year old seems more like an island whisky - oily and peppery. That was great and only about £30
I'd like to try the 10 year old too, maybe next.

So. The Arran Malt cask no 17 is an ex oloroso sherry cask. This whisky is very rich. With no water, there's toffee apples, raisins and fudge on the nose and the palate is much the same with more fruit cake and caramel. It has a medium length toffee like finish.
This is 58% I think, so it packs a punch but in a reasonably refined kind of way.
With water (I did one teaspoon, then a second), the fierceness and the depth is toned down and the deeper caramel flavours are replaced with more raisin and heather flavours.
Really very good for the price. I still need to buy the 10 year old!
