Thanked: 227I have a rule when i buy a new malt.
Glass 1 : Neat out of the bottle.
Glass 2 : Chilled.
Glass 3 : With a little water.
This gives me a chance to get a range of taste from it.
So tonight the IPA was poured over a cold soap stone.
Still good takes a bit of the edge off of it.

Thanked: 36PigHog and TheGeek, I had a stout aged in highland park barrels a few years ago. There's whisky aged beer out there to be tried. The stout wasn't that great, a bit too treacly for my liking. I had a german beer aged in whisky barrels more recently and that was very pleasant. I'm surprised they aren't selling the glenfiddich IPA, i reckon they could charge a fair bit for it assuming they'd have a fairly limited supply and assuming there's be a fairly high demand from whisky people.

Thanked: 36I'm at work and there's a whisky tasting going on with a representative from Douglas Laing. I'm quite excited. They've saved me a dram of something but told me I can't have it until right before I go home.
