I know it isn’t Oban, but a sad day was when Makers Mark and Jim Beam sold to a Japanese company.

Well hopefully they keep up the quality. I slaughtered a bottle of Devils Cut, not bad at all, I really liked the flavor. I also have an affinity for Black Bush.

if it was suntory or similar then they have done good things for some of the scots whiskys.
opened a bottle of glen farclas 15yo last night, very nice too, although the 21yo is the one for me.

Jura superstition is the finest scotch readily available imho
When ever I see a sideways picture of a bottle I imagine someone who has had to much to drink, lying on their side.

Oh, and I've never had a single malt that I thought was as good as a blend.:p
Truth is that I've not really sampled that many.
At least you're honest about ;)
Having a glass of Highland Park 12 while watching a pirate show.
Talisker Port Ruighe.
Most enjoyable—obviously a Talisker; smokey and peppery with a hint of brine. Rich, thick and oily in the mouth—more so than the 10 year old (similar to the Storm, apparently, not that I've tried that one). It's not really medicinal, as such, not like an Islay anyway, but there's a taste of something similar, and there's an underlying sweetness, which is very nice, no doubt caused by the finishing in port casks.
Definitely something that I'd consider buying a bottle of. Tasted pretty good neat, if a little strong and fiery but the best came out with a good splash of water and a few minutes' wait.
Attachment 154516 sweet sweet Jesus! I got this from a friend of mine who wasn't thrilled about the smokiness of this elixir of joy. Springbank Calvados finish. The sweet fruitiness of the apples really comes through at an early stage, rich in flavour, nice and oily to the palette. It's a cask strength non chill filtered so it's got a bit of zing to it..
That sounds really good. I'm going to investigate the price of that right now.
