I usually make my manhattans with Bulleit and Noilly Prat, but they were out of it last time I was at the store, so now I have a bottle of Wild Turkey 81 which I don't like as much (apparently they used to make 101 proof which was better).
But for sipping rye I'd pick Knob Creek.

Well my wife got me an early Christmas gift last night. I was taken to the liquor store last night and told to get a bottle of whatever I wanted, well within reason of course. I have been interested in Scotch lately and having zero experience with it, I went with the owners suggestion of Dimple 15 year old blended scotch. I have to say that I am really enjoying it. It is nice and smooth and does not have a bite to it. I think I might have to try some other scotches as funds and SWMBO will allow.

Hey guys, I'm wondering if you can help me out. I just finished my Macallan 18 tonight. I love Macallan, but I have really fallen for some of the Laphroaig offerings lately, especially quarter cask and triple wood. I'm debating whether to get another bottle of the Macallan 18 or spend roughly double and get a bottle of Laphroaig 25. I have never tasted the 25 and I was wondering if any of you had and whether you thought is Laphroaig different from their 18? I'd love the Macallan 25 or 30, but neither will be in the cards for quite a while unless I win the lottery lol.

    Thanks for any help.

Not going to lie the Macallan 25 year is FN amazing!! Now from the sounds of it you are on about the same path I was on awhile ago. Please do yourself a favor and buy the Highland Park 18 year (this is by far my favorite go to Single Malt) I promise you will not be disappointed! The Macallan 18 was my fav. for a long time until I had the Highland Park 18. I still love the Mac but the Highland Park 18 IMHO is better.

The HP 18 is outstanding! I was given a bottle in a trade earlier this year and was just floored at how good it is. I too think it's better than the Macallan 18.

Just found this thread, last night, and finished reading through all the posts, today. Great pictures. I'll have to try and post a few, at some point. When I was in college (LSU, 1986ish), it was the "in" thing to be seen drinking Glinlivet. Not bad stuff, but not very affordable for a college student that had 3 jobs, lol. For the last couple of years, I have been a fan of Macallan, with the 12 being my usual go to. I was able to try the Lagavulin 16 on New Year's Eve, this year and REALLY enjoyed it. Now that I am in the mood, I think I may have to head to the liquor store, tomorrow and buy a bottle of the Highland Park 18, especially with all the glowing recommendations!

I recently bought a bottle of Dewar's 12, and have become fond of it. A gentle peat smokiness and light honey sweetness make it definitely more-ish.

I bought a very close friend a few bottles of small batch bourbon for Christmas and he bought me a bottle of Highland Park 30 year! Unfortunately I haven't tried it yet, I am waiting till new years eve to open it. We always open and try a new single malt on new years eve. I had already bought a bottle for the occasion but when I received this I knew It was the one we would have. I will try to let everyone know how it is!!!
