Saw some of the Scotch and Irish whiskies mentioned in this thread when purchasing the Bourbon. Really tempting-I might splurge for the holidays.
I have barely drunk bourbon in years. It was all I drunk in my late teens early twenties. But once I discovered single malts I never went back.
I think it's the overly strong wood taste it gets from the brand new barrels.
My local distillery gets those barrels second hand and using them in their ageing process along with port, sherry and rum barrels, really adds to the whiskey.
Also last night I had an Innis & Gunn Stout aged in bourbon barrels, first time I had it but I'll definitely be getting more while I can but it's a limited batch
