Yeah, that is a good thing I guess
Still, Vinmonopolet, imho, has improved greatly over the last few years with a more customer based focus, rather than just being a state governed brake disk on our freedom to choose what we drink.

I suspect it really depends on the staff at each place though.
At my local place there are really knowledgable and helpful employees that tries their very best to get the customers what they want.

Um, all of them, any of them that have been in front of me over all these years....

I agree. The staff at my place are very customer focused and friendly, and are quite well trained. Only one of them seems to know anything about whisky, but they do their best. I ordered a bottle of cask strength springbank a month or so ago and they couldn't tell me much about it, but she saw the name of the importer and immediately got excited. She said they she doesn't really know whisky but that importer brings in the best wines and they never bring any rubbish in. They're the ones who imported your bottle of Old Particular by the look of things. I think one of the staff there knows whisky, but only one of them and you never know when she'll be working. To be fair, if a town this size in England had a bottle shop as good I'd be quite surprised.
