I like the sound of an old fashioned and some other whisky cocktails, but I don't usually buy whisky I'd be willing to sacrifice for the experiment. Some of the recipes I've seen sound a bit weird, like one I just ready for something called a "Sporran Breeze". I can't help thinking whisky and ginger ale would be a nice combination, but like I said, I don't have any whisky I'd be willing to try it with. I might pick up a miniature of something cheap at some point. Anyone else tried any whisky cocktails?

I'm the same way. I rarely have things to mix in the house. Never had ginger ale with whisky, but 7 and 7 (Seagrams 7 and 7-up) is a popular drink here.

Tonight I'm having Balvenie Single Barrel 12 year. Most pleasant.

I have been known to imbibe the occasional Manhattan, Whiskey Sour, Old Fashioned or a well made Mint Julep. When im bored with myself. Use Bourbon. By the way im drinking Belgian Tripel Ales this week.
