Talk about an introduction. I missed that one, but made sure I got a bottle of this years release which is 100% Ontario Rye ( 90% unmalted, 10% malted) aged for 4 year in 3 types of barrels. New Ontario oak, New American oak, and first fill ex Bourbon. Bottled at 43% ABV.

I sure hope they stuck some of this away for longer ageing. They sure seem like they have a good grasp on how to make spirits.

What I get on the nose is a ton of Rye bread, and I mean good rye bread. Makes me want a corn beef sandwich! Very light on the mouth, sweet and spicy, but young. If it had another few years I think this would be exceptional. You can taste all of the 43%. Maybe some air oxidation might help this one.

I'll keep an eye out for it next time I'm at the LCBO. May I ask how much Premier Winn is gouging us for lovely tipple?
