Thread: Scotch/whiskey of the day

Aloha!

I'm not much of an alcoholic drinker these days, but when I do embibe, if it's Kentucky Bourbon, it's always Wild Turkey.
I've taken the Bourbon Trail tour and met the Master Distiller at Wild Turkey. I prefer his Whiskey over the others. Of course, this is highly subjective.


When it comes to Scotch, it's always Glenmorangie. I prefer this single malt. BTW, it's pronounched like Orange-ey. Glen-Morangie.

Caol Ila 12 yr for me tonight. I saved a bit in the glass and as a dessert, put a small spoonful of good ice cream in the glass. The Caol Ila coated the ice cream. A nice micro treat.

That sounds delicious. I'm going to try that.

So I went to my local bottle shop today and found a sale on something I haven't tried in 20 years: Cardhu 12 yr old. It's nicer than I remembered!

Highland Park 12 yr. old tonight, with one ice cube. (It's a very warm evening.)

Well, my oldest son came home for Father's Day and helped me finish off what little Laphroiag Cask Strength I had remaining last night on the deck. The stuff is so rich that a splash of it is all you need. It has spoiled me for lesser malts.

As it is full-on summer now and hotter/more humid than the Devil's taint, I guess I'll switch to gin and tonics made with a pretty nice local gin called Kate's Courage by Mott's and Sons Distillery here in town. I was sipping an Evan Williams black label on the rocks, but then, what should appear on the evening news but a story saying that today is National Martini Day. Therefore, since it's official and all:

Bombay Sapphire Gin, Boissiere Dry Vermouth, three olives, stirred, not shaken...bliss.
