Just tried a shot of the Dissertation. Worth EVERY penny. I like it better with a single cube to mellow it out a bit, but man what a treat. Cannot wait to do a true review.

I have a good friend that owns two liquor stores.
A little while back he suggested this as a really good every day pour.

    Evan Williams 1783 Small Batch.
Very flavorful and smooth. If you did a taste test not knowing the price I would venture to say that you would guess at least double of what it is. In my parts 1.75l for $28.00.
The second bottle should give away how I feel about it.
    Fantastic stuff.

Nice to hear. This is rather rye-forward, correct?

There is a definite Rye note to it neat. It is MUCH mellower with a touch of water, allowing the other flavours to come through. Just sampling a bit of Last Barrels now and it is less sweet, more of an un-peated Scotch character to it neat. Water does not seem to change the palette as much.

More detailed reviews to follow, but my initial thought is that I prefer the Dissertation. YMMV, as I am somewhat of a newb at this Whisky thing. but it's fun learning.

    Aloha!

Long day today, gentlemen. I'm not much of a drinker, but I do have a few bottles for medicinal purposes.

NEAT two fingers of Genorangie 10 year old followed by Molson Canadian. I still like my boilermakers. When I used to drink Scotch, Glenmorangie was my favorite single malt, so I keep a bottle around for just such an emergency.

Just went out to get two spare bottles of Dissertation. Saw a new bottle from Wiser's called "Legacy Rye" and could not resist. That got me convinced to grab a bottle of the Bulleit Bourbon 10 year old.

Look for reviews every weekend for a month or so.
