    I've tried it . . . I have read reviews that compare it to drinking turpentine. Personally, I think that makes turpentine sound bad. Not sure what to call it, but "proper" is not an adjective I would use. It's one of two spirits I will never touch again.

    Bought a bottle of proper twelve last fall and didn’t find it bad at all. Not as smooth as Jameson’s 3 year old equivalent, but certainly not turpentine either. Made by bush mill for McGregor, although reportedly he had some influence in the barrel selection and all.
    I’m staying with Jameson, fwiw.
