Shh! I live alone and the "Kerr's of the drinking class" mug makes for a nice steam milk first and then pull the shot Latte. Yes, the Behmore is used indoors and does not trip my smoke detector. I put it at the back of my stove under the exhaust hood. There is a definite after smell for a few hours! It would be much less if I were to leave the hood running as I clean the machine. A Hearthware or popcorn popper roaster always alerted me to second crack when the Smoke alarm went off.

Coffee is a nice hobby because there are so many possibilities.

I got a Behmor. I've toyed with the idea a couple of years ago, and read plenty of good things. I'll let you know how it goes when it arrives LOL.
The local coffee shop that roasts fresh coffee has been reducing its opening hours and its getting harder and harder for me to go get fresh coffee. So I've done it now.

I bought a Behmor 1600 last Fall; you're going to love it. I'm profoundly deaf so I cannot hear either the first or second crack. But with the Behmor, using a bright flashlight and going by bean color alone, I'm able to consistently roast to just past Full City but before approaching French, where varietal nuances start getting lost. You made a good choice buying a Behmor. With normal hearing and just a little practice, you can expect perfection.
If you haven't heard of the Green Coffee Buying Club which you can find HERE, you might want to check it out. Whenever one of the sellers has a new variety of coffee to offer, I receive an email with a link to the cupping description. I've bought some amazing coffee at great prices there.

Thanks Morty, I'm glad to hear I'm going to love it I'm in Australia, so I'm just going to buy green beans from our local coffeesnobs site CoffeeSnobs - BeanBay . I signed up for emails a couple of years ago and the constant teasing they have been giving me has worn me down LOL
