    The kurig I would say are mostly about trade off but that doesn't mean all pod machines are like that. I recently bought an old d250 nespresso machine that
    use there pods. With nespresso pods I get a nice shot. However I buy empty pods and fill them with my choice of coffee and get an excellent shot of espresso. To me in this case the pod is simply a disposable portafilter.

    You can buy a quality pour over unit cheap which brews superior coffee and does it in a snap.

    Tried cardomom pods in my mokka pot this morning - i think 4 was too many, the weird thing is that the cardomom taste is getting stronger the further down the cup i get but it was obviously poured from the pot in one go

    I've never heard of this. And it sounds very interesting. Do you buy the pods and then grind them yourself?
    I should see if I can find cardamom around here...

    You might be interested in "Hawaij" (חוואיג, in Hebrew); the second mixture for coffee -- ginger, cardamom, cloves, and cinnamon -- is what's most-commonly used in Israel. We would add it to run-of-the-mill Turkish coffee, when brewing it; and, in a pinch, to instant coffee. It's also a good way to use-up older, out-of-date spices.
