Well, it is with a heavy heart that I announce the sad passing of my Freshroast roaster.

After five years of excellent and diligent service, the leaky roof-induced soaking proved a calamity too far. It recovered for long enough to do a couple of good roasts, but then was just unable to generate enough heat to do a proper roast. It's a sad, sad day chez Cangooner.

Thanks to a couple unexpected expenses, $$ is tight these days, so running out and getting the Gene Cafe that I really would like to get is out of the question. So now I need to decide whether to just get another Freshroast, save for a fairly short while to get a Behmor, or save for quite a while to get a Gene Cafe.

In the meantime, please join me and raise a cup of your favourite brew in memory of a fine tool. It served me well and owes me nothing. RIP Freshie.

It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.

I have a Behmor 1600+, and a friend of mine has a Gene Cafe. Fairly, I like mine more: the larger batch, preprogrammed profiles as well as fully manual option, different type of heat transfer leading to a less dried-out roasts holding for almost twice as long afterwards - it's all speaks for the Behmor.
