    Default Bay Rum aftershave?

How does this stuff smell? I want to give it a try, but don't want to go to work smelling like a drunken pirate...

I'm looking at the Captain's Choice, anyone tried this stuff?

I've never tried Captains Choice but my brother has. He says the 9 tails is great and mild smelling. And doesn't smell like hai-karate at all.

I love it. Wife says it smells like cloves.

    I know how you feel.
For years I resisted the stuff, thinking it would have me smell like some old geezer from down the pub or something.

Finally though, I bought a bottle of Captain Smith's Island spice.
After a few days I found myself really liking it.
Oddly enough, the educated part ( ) of my surroundings seemed to think much the same.

Give it a whirl, it is good stuff!

Um, all of them, any of them that have been in front of me over all these years....

Search "bay rum parade" for a look at a ton of them. But as far as the scent in general, I didn't think I'd like it but I have Dominica and Dominica lime. Love them both. I end up using the regular Dominica 5 out of 7 days a week.
While it may have alcohol you won't smell like booze. More clove type of smell

Captain's Choice has a strong bay rum scent with little or no clove scent but has hints of cinnamon and citrus. Cat O'Nine Tails on the other hand is clovey. Cat does burn a bit so if you like that, good. For these two products you have to like the bay rum scent as they are not subtle. The Captain's Choice Lime is more moderate than the other because of the lime. They all have witch hazel in them, which is nice. Try one. Lots of us do.

Pinaud Bay Rum is relatively inexpensive and smells quite pleasant. Many of us use it daily, it's a very traditional scent, has stood the test of time and feels great on the face after a shave. Cheers!

Thanks for the replies everyone! I ordered the Captain's Choice, I think I'm really going to like it. The aftershave I use now has Witch Hazel and my skin loves it.

It definitely has a "different" scent, one that you can pick out of a crowd. At first I had mixed thoughts about it, but I quickly grew to like it. I think this was because I was new to wet shaving, and used to the scent of cologne or common aftershave. Bay Rum has a distinctive scent.
