Post shave balmsl'occitane
I'm looking for a balm ready to purchase, not make. I want it more lotion based not alcohol. Not saying it can't have alcohol.
i prefer something with a scent, suggestions, l'occitane, Nivea I hear is good but seems too commercial and maybe light on scent?

Literally 100,s to choose from, Nivea happens to be very good and has several scents, but there really is a bunch out there so ready to go is not a problem, the two I like the best after trying many is Institute Karitte balm, and my absolute favorite is Myrsol, Emulsion, Tc

I found the best aftershave balm ever created IMO but they stopped making it, for the time being anyway.
After trying untold different balms I came across Penhaligons Opus 1870 Balm . Alcohol free , it was the best part of the shaving ritual . I went to buy a new tube recently and they informed me that they wont be making any for the meantime. I could only buy it in a pack with the cologne Opus 1870, which I already own.
So I bought a Penhaligons Blenheim Balm. Nice but it contains alcohol and is no match for Opus.
After doing some research and talking to people who are in the know I ordered an XPEC Balm , it is supposedly one of the best.
Whilst I await its arrival from Italy I purchased an Acqua Di Parma Intensa Balm. Quite expensive and more of a liquid than a cream . Not worth the money but a nice alcohol free alternative as a back up ..

I really enjoy AS balms, I have 3 different ones currently. The first one I bought was WM nuemanns 1911 scent, very manly scent really enjoy it and I think it works really well. The second I have is Art of the Shave (AOS) sandalwood scent which is really nice, great scent again manly scent and feels great. Both of these really feel nice if I rush or just have poor technique, soothes the skin nicely. I almost forgot I do have the Nivea post shave balm and for the $3 or there bout that I spent on that, great stuff as well. I admit I am not such a huge fan of the scent with Nivea kinda lotion generic scent IMO but still works very well. I like the Nivea if I want to use a splash as well, I use the nivea then my splash after shave this way I don't get such a burn and still enjoy the scent of the after shave. Not sure if that is right but it is what I do with it anyway. Good luck and hope you find what ya like

JOB15, I am a big fan of Acqua Di Parmas colognes. I really like the Colonia line, with Essenza being my favorite. I have not tried the after shave balm and I was glad to read your review. I am a Creed fanatic, however I do not buy into their marketing regarding royalty and celebrity bs. With that said... They do make a fantastic, albeit expensive product.
I use Creed's Green Irish Tweed shave soap and I have a sample of the GIT balm I will try tomorrow and I will provide an update.

I recently bought 3 Acqua Di Parma colognes , trial size, I wasn't impressed personally. I think Geo F Trumper has a nicer citrus smell and I prefer an Eau De Toilette or Eau De Parfum , Eau De Cologne is the weakest concentrate .
Last week I bought "Dark Rebel" by John Vavartos , very nice.
My favourite of them all has to be "Charles Street" by Mark Birley, its a bit feminine but I love it.
I received my Xpec Balm but they mistakenly sent me the unscented version. Holy cow, it stinks and makes me feel ill. It must be the natural smell of the ingredients .
The normal version should arrive soon, hopefully before my next shave .Last edited by JOB15; 02-29-2016 at 09:11 PM.
