Im a strong proponent of Witch hazel. I like Thayers but there are others that are equally liked.
Proper prior planning prevents piss poor performance.

I do what John does. As I rub my face I check for any missed spots. Then on with the after shave, usually Floid Blue.

Thanked: 250Alum block followed with a generous splash of witch hazel and then I fan my face with the shave towel to bask in the refreshing feel. After it's dry I put on aftershave and fan my face again.

My witch hazel is scented, bay rum and Egyptian spice so I just leave it on after applying.
