I avoid letting my razor ever get wet. Lather is wiped off rather than rinsed and so there is little chance of any moisture getting into the pivot.

After finishing the shave, one square of tissue paper is used to wipe off the blade. Then I strop 3-5 strokes on a very lightly mineral oiled newspaper strop to clean and oil the bevels. Finally, the rest of the blade is wiped off with a tyvek cloth that also is very lightly impregnated with mineral oil.
