Thanked: 60Dolerma is the same as Alt-Innsbruck Emulsion. Great stuff with a lot of wheat germ oil and a touch of menthol

I've never tried Alt-Innsbruck, but it appears to be 22% more expensive (same quantity) than Dolerma on one popular website. If the two products are identical, you could save a few bucks by switching brands...
As promised, I also followed-up with my "experiments" with pure coconut oil, and Nivea aftershave. As it turns out, the coconut oil is great when the only issue is itchy skin due to dryness, but when it's actual razor burn it does not help that much at all. Nivea aftershave did help sooth the burn and left my face decently comfortable for the rest of the day, but the effects were not quite as soothing as Dolerma.
The one downside to Dolerma which I did not mention last time, is that it left my face quite oily/greasy after applying the product, and this lasted a few hours. The vendor website specifies that this product is "not greasy and quickly absorbed" but this has not been my experience. Small price to pay to eliminate the irritation.
Anyway, just my two cents... I'll go back to a single-pass for my daily shave, but it's nice to know that for a special occasion, if I want a closer shave, there are some products that help to keep it comfortable as well!
Cheers!

Thanked: 0This is good to know. I have a sample of the Dolerma emulsion from a recent order but haven't used it yet. I have a weird growth pattern and sensitive skin on my neck and get irritation with the straight razor (I only have about 6 SR shaves under my belt). Thanks for the tip!

Thanked: 2284I've gone through a 250ml bottle of the Primalan Almond oil emulsion, and I can say it's fantastic stuff. Soothes my skin immensely. Goes on and stays oily for a bit, but I used it exclusively when I went to bed. It separates quite a bit so it does need a good shaking before use. I believe the Dolerma is much the same.
