Glycerin
I enjoy Thayers witch hazel after a shave and before A.S.. I let it dry on my face before picking up the Clubman that I always use. But Ive read how others use Glycerin and have given up on the Witch Hazel. So i picked some up the other day. Ive tried it a few times now and i think i prefer the Witch Hazel but, the glycerin is great on dry hands and softens up my Stash and Goat nicely!
Ive seen some gus with facial hair gleaming in oils and it makes me think they just changed the oil in there truck and didnt clean up afterwards. Ha. The Glycerin soaks in and with a touch of water you cant tell its even there.
So give some Glycerin a try. I picked up a bottle at wally world for less than 5 bucks. You never know if your going to like it until you try it.It's just Sharpening, right?

Thanked: 49And since you already have it you can use on your stones like a honing oil. Been using for years that way.

I used to use glycerin. I would put a few drops in the bowl before mixing my soap. When I stopped using it, I noticed no difference. It is supposed to help retain water so what I might try is a couple of drops when wetting your face before the shave.

I only use one drop, after a final rinse.

Recently I've been using my own home made concoction for post shave. It's a mixture of glycerine, witch hazel, aloe juice, rose water and plain water. Still playing with the ratios of the ingredients to nail it, but so far the results have been very good.

I’ve been tinkering with glycerin too; mostly for hair treatments. Kind of like a contrived tonic-meets-pomade. Works great and formulations are forgiving... that is, most any ratios seem to work well. At the moment I’m working with Thayer’s, various beard oils, and glycerin. Results are desirable (for me), not greasy, smells great, easy to use, and very economically sound.
