Okay, not to rock B&B's boat but... I'm pretty sure that is the same formula. The old one listed componds (Gum tragacanth no.1; Rose Water) whereas the new one lists them as their individual constituents.

Actually there is no 'old formulation' of the Sandalwood, it's existence started after that thread on B&B.

Apparently my bottle has the old label, but I haven't tried the new stuff to know if I can tell any difference. EU laws have been requiring more detailed labeling on cosmetic products. Whether there is a formulation change, or just labeling change is still unclear to me.
All I know is one person reported perceiving a difference, but that's not enough for me to jump into conclusions.

Default Yes color change - No difference performance

    Hi Rum,
I use the Sandalwood and when I ordered 3 bottles from MiN New York, I noticed that one was slightly darker in color than the other 2.

However, I have NOT noticed ANY change in performance in either

Don't know why...it is possible that one of their "preservatives" (e.g., parabens or triethanolamine) may be more or less, causing this change...but not sure.

I've not tried the new one yet, but wondering what your opinions are.

Strange, I thought they didn't use parabens in this product. Oh well, guess we can't always have our cake and eat it!

I was also surprised to see that this product contains alcohol from the beginning. Normally, alcohol-based products cause me a lot of dryness, but the Coral Skin Food works a treat, especially during hot summer days Such as today!).

    Wink

    Hi Rum,
You may be right about the Parabens (although I am relatively certain that I read it somewhere and most manufacturers use these to increase shelf life).

I am not sure what the regulations are in regards to listing these items on the label these days. But since regulatory mandates evolve all the time, their listing has to evolve to keep up. For example, I believe that they are now required to list two potential allergens (Citronellol, Geraniol, and others?) on their label...this was not previously there.

Does the Coral Skin Food contain alcohol (I mean the ethanol/propanol kind)???? I didn't know this. But, all alcohols are not created equal and not all lead to dryness. Unlike ethanol (or ethyl alcohol - used in aftershaves) which leads and dries skin, Cetyl alcohol (as an example), routinely used in shampoos and conditioners, is a waxy alcohol which is used as an emulsifier.

It's listed as containing alcohol, but I agree with your point: it may be harmless and not necessarily the ethanol kind.

On the point about Cetyl alcohol, I see this on many products very often. I think L' Occitane's "youth concentrate" cream had it which made me avoid that product. Needless to say, it does say that it's "naturally occurring".

Oh, oh, somebody's been skipping chemistry class in school

Of course, contains alcohol, it's what makes it good and it's listed on both labels:

Rosa Damascena (Rose) Flower Distillate, Aqua (Water), Glycerin, Alcohol Denatured, Astragalus Gummifer, Parfum (Fragrance), Menthol, Benzyl Alcohol, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone, Citral, Limonene, CI 19140 (FD&C Yellow 5)
Gum Tragacanth No. 1, Rose Water, Glycerin BP, Menthol Crystals BP, Nipagin, Fragrance, Deminseralised Water

Wowwww Gugi...You are right!! It does contain all that . Hmmm...A new pair of glasses to read that fine print looks to be in order for me .

I wouldn't worry in the case of Trumper's...Benzyl alcohol is a weak sensitizer found in a wide array of plants. It prevents growth of bacteria on skin. It doesn't act like regular ethanol would.

I will restate, since it seems to have gone unnoticed:

It is the same formula! Homonyms!
